Our Management Team


John Priest
CEO

Prior to joining Hilco Receivables, John had been with the Cerberus Operations and Advisory Company, a unit of Cerberus Capital Management.  His financial industry experience encompasses domestic as well as international financial services.  Before joining Cerberus, John served in a variety of consumer finance companies primarily in the roles of Chief Credit Officer and Head of Marketing Analytics. He has substantial experience in the sub prime and middle market segments, having worked in various roles for Providian Financial. In addition, he started-up Providian Bank in Argentina and also served as the Chief Credit Officer and Head of Marketing and Database Analytics for African Bank in South Africa, which provides a wide variety consumer loans to the middle market and micro-finance segments.
 
In addition, John has significant M&A and co-brand experience from deals ranging over five different continents. Other roles in consumer finance include Senior Vice President at Kessler Financial Services Investment Banking Group and various roles at MBNA America.
 
Prior to entering the financial services field, John was a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy.  He has a degree in economics with a naval science minor from Miami University.

Bob has more than 30 years of operations and financial experience. Prior to joining Hilco Receivables, Bob was a Partner with a business consulting firm specializing in building revenues, efficiencies and profitability of his clientele. Prior to his consulting experience, Bob served in operational and financial roles at Chase Card Services (formerly Bank One/First USA) including as Call Center Site Lead in Wilmington, Delaware. Additionally, Bob was a former COO and CFO of public and private companies. Bob is a graduate of the Villanova Business School of Villanova University and a CPA with experiences from Pricewaterhouse Coopers.
 
Mike Walsh

Prior to joining Hilco Receivables, Mike was an associate attorney with the law firm of Richards, Ralph & Schwab where his practice concentrated on representation of banks, mortgage lenders, and mortgage servicers in consumer lending, mortgage foreclosure and bankruptcy cases. Prior to joining Richards, Ralph & Schwab, Mike was senior counsel at Fisher and Shapiro where he managed the law firm’s litigation department.  He has also worked as associate general counsel for Fidelity National Title and as associate general counsel for LOGS Financial Services, LLC.
 
Mike graduated from the University of Kentucky and earned his law degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.  He also earned an M.A. in Political Science from Loyola University-Chicago where is an adjunct professor in the Political Science Department and coach of Loyola’s Mock Trial Teams.
 
Steve Thorne

Steve has extensive IT experience in the financial services industry.  Prior to joining Hilco Receivables, Steve was with MortgageServ, a software development subsidiary of FiServ, Inc. where he was responsible for managing conversion projects for loan origination software at client sites across the   Prior to that, he was with Abacus Financial Management Services as Sr. Vice President, in charge of the IT department supporting risk management agencies, telecommunications, health care,  and publishing.   Steve has also served several companies in the mortgage banking and commercial lending industries as software development manager for a variety of applications including installment loans, secondary marketing management, mortgage loan origination and mortgage loan servicing with a specialty in foreclosure and delinquency management. Steve has a BS degree in computer science from the Detroit College of Business.

Barry Lockwood

Barry has more than 25 years of sales and marketing experience. He serves as executive vice president, focusing on identifying and evaluating charged-off consumer debt portfolios for potential purchase.  Barry also manages all aspects of portfolio sales. Since 1996, Barry has directly participated in the acquisition of more than $10 billion of charged-off consumer receivables.  He has established and maintained relationships with the nation’s leading financial institutions, including the top credit card issuers and consumer and auto loan lenders.
 
Prior to joining Hilco, Barry served as executive vice president for Fourscore Resource Capital, a purchaser of charged-off receivables. Before joining Fourscore, Barry was senior marketing manager for ContiAsset Receivables Management LLC from 1998-2000. During his tenure there, he arranged for the acquisition of more than $2.5 billion of consumer receivables, consistently placing ContiAsset among the nation’s top buyers of charged-off receivables.
 
For two years, Barry was vice president of portfolio acquisition for Alderney Capital Management, LLC, directly participating in the acquisition of more than $1.8 billion in receivables. He was  vice president of marketing for West Capital Financial Services Corporation in 1996 and was responsible for the sale of more than $100 million of charged-off consumer receivables.
 
Barry attended San Diego State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in marketing. He also served on the Board of Directors for DBA International, the industry’s largest trade organization from 1999 through 2006.

Arno Lam and Hans Wittermans

Prior to serving as members of the board and principals of Hilco Receivables Europe, Arno and Hans were partners in Alec Burlington International, a leading European credit management firm based in the Netherlands,  which Arno founded back in 1997. Collectively, they have more than 30 years’ experience in European credit management, including positions with the Benelux division of Dun & Bradstreet, where they first worked together. Hans joined Arno as CEO of Alec Burlington in 2002. Prior to that Hans was Managing Director for the Benelux and Middle East for CIMS/Cendant and held various positions within  the International Dun & Bradstreet organization, focussing on business marketing, consultancy and the auditing of collection centers in Europe & Latin America.
